"Orbits"

Accent lamp made from antique Edward Miller Lamp Co. copper lamp base repurposed into modern art.

The nickel plated chrome lamp shade evokes images of stellar planetary motion on one hand and microscopic atomic structure on the other. This gives this lamp a sense of powerful kinetic form.

The bulb is a chrome dipped bulb so it is not bright to look at, but the reflected light from the copper cup does illuminate a broad area.

Modern electronics are used throughout the lamp but I used antique styling to compliment and honor of the "seed" that germinated into this sculptural work of art. That "seed" is the antique Edward Miller lamp. It was made in the early 1900s as part of a Craftsman era design table lamp. The finish is copper with a nice ruddy brown patina. Accent pieces are made of cast lead.
